An independent bookstore in Daitabashi, Tokyo, specializing in new and used books from Japan and abroad, with a focus on photography books, fashion, art, design, and zines. Launched online in 2010, it has become a place where a community naturally flourishes, centered around owner Takayuki Kobayashi’s unique perspective and discerning book selections.
This is the first installment of “LOOSE JOINTS FIELD NOTES,” a series in which LOOSE JOINTS visits “destinations” it trusts, curates its insights, and brings them back. The featured shop is flotsam books, a specialty store for visual art books in Daitabashi. The T-shirt design is by Yutaro Yamada.

loosejoints is a creative label and platform established in Tokyo in 2005 by editor Shun Sato.
It is involved in a wide range of activities, from magazine editing, advertising production, T-shirt labels, and exhibition planning to the release of CDs and 12-inch records.
